Reverse Documentary: Tokyo University of the Arts Graduation Exhibition

What thoughts and emotions lie behind a student’s final work? This documentary traces back from the day of the exhibition to explore the origins of creativity in young artists.
Tokyo University of the Arts, known as Japan’s most prestigious institution for the arts, holds its annual Graduation Exhibition at the end of January. The event showcases the culmination of each student’s artistic journey.
This program follows four students over the course of 200 days leading up to the exhibition. Rather than progressing chronologically, the documentary moves in reverse—starting from the day of the exhibition and tracing back through the creative process to reveal the true intentions behind each work and the spark that gave it life.
By the time we revisit the completed pieces at the end of the program, how will our perception have changed? Narrated by Satoru Iguchi (King Gnu)
東京藝術大学・卒業作品展。大学生活の“集大成”には、どんな思いが込められていたのか。展示当日から時をさかのぼり、若き芸術家たちの創造の原点を探るドキュメント。 日本の芸術分野の最高学府と言われる、東京藝術大学。毎年１月末から開催される卒業作品展には、若き芸術家たちの渾身の作品が並ぶ。番組では、４人の藝大生の卒業作品展までの２００日を取材。制作過程を現在から過去へ、展示当日から時をさかのぼって見つめていき、作品の真のねらいや創造の原点を探っていく。完成作品を番組の最後に再び目にしたとき、私たちは何を感じるのだろうか。ナレーションは井口理（Ｋｉｎｇ Ｇｎｕ）
